The only way the community is going to change is if the people inside the community change. The media glorifies and exemplifies lives of drugs, violence and racism. As a result of this people begin to do the same thing thinking it's socially acceptable especially since a lot of the media utilizes subliminal message techniques that teach the brain to associate certain aspects of life with so called "coolness" . This needs to change because people are being taught this mindset because they associate with that culture. So what occurs because of this? The community deteriorates. Sometimes the reason for this is not in fact a moralistic point of view but money. Money is what keeps communities the way they are. Usually the first thing that occurs when crime goes up is police get new guns and squad cars through grants from the federal government. When you get new inmates in prison the prison gets a whole lot of money because now these inmates families have to pay for their medical coverage and other things like ridiculously high phone bills for calls that an inmate may place. But who is in prison? The answer is mostly blacks, blacks make up about 51% of the races in prisons in America but are a minority in the actual population of America. This is possible because blacks are disenfranchised meaning blacks own virtually no business so, they stay impoverished and as a result to survive have to steal. The only way this can end is if the entire system changes. Nothing can be accomplished if not everyone is on the same page. The reason why the civil rights struggle worked was because people were united and were able to come together to get what they wanted out of the government. Our communities today are not and as a result we remain divided and concurred.
